Dr. Beverly Alexander, First Lady - Co-Pastor Answering “yes” to God’s clarion call in 1997, Dr. Beverly Alexander, First Lady of New Light Family Christian Center, is a licensed and ordained woman of the cloth. Well equipped with spiritual gifts, she is an able teacher and a dynamic storyteller blessed with an ability to connect biblical narratives to modern realities. Led by Holy Spirit, Dr. Beverly is daily humbled by her immensely close relationship with God, the Lover of her soul, whom she intimately calls “Daddy.” For more than 30 years she has served as mentor and advocate of high-risk girls and young women, inspiring them to overcome their adversities by applying God’s Word as resolution to their problems. As a playwright, lyricist, and director, she contracted with the Detroit Public Schools, Alternatives for Girls, and Michigan Metro Girl Scouts Council to produce dramatic works performed by youth in diverse venues throughout Metropolitan Detroit. Included in her original musicals are “One-Way Up to Victory,” “Notes for an Unsung Song,” “A Christmas Gift for Thanksgiving,” and “A Vision for Tomorrow,” which showcased at Detroit’s Music Hall Theater (now Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts). Her original one-woman show, “GoodLand,” earned national recognition when she performed excerpts at the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Conference in Neand presented her with their coveted Outstanding Youth Drug Prevention Award.
